How TeethXpress Changed My Life: Millie’s Dental Implant Story
As a veteran performer, Millie knows the value of a warm, welcoming smile. And that’s exactly what the 75-year-old Delta blues singer had before periodontal (gum) disease took its toll on her teeth. Millie realized that a dental implant procedure would be the best solution for her.
When Millie found out the TeethXpress dental implant procedure could replace her failing teeth with a new smile, that would look just like her own, she was delighted. “That’s the smile that everybody loves,” she said. “Thank God for TeethXpress!”
Achieving a smile that is consistent with the unique characteristics of a person’s natural teeth is a common request from TeethXpress patients. For Millie this included keeping the gap between her two front teeth.
“That’s the smile that everybody loves,” she said. “Thank God for TeethXpress!”
Why Millie never considered dentures
Different from a traditional removable denture, a dental implant procedure like the one Millie received can function like natural teeth. Removable dentures often move when chewing course vegetables like raw carrots or celery. This makes it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to eat these and other types of foods with a denture. When asked, Millie said, “I never, considered getting dentures!”
In Millie’s case, like her natural teeth, her implant teeth don’t move when she chews. This allows her to enjoy steak, chicken, salad and fruit without concern for chewing her food well. “I can now eat apples and peanuts, which I love dearly,” said Millie of her dental implant procedure. “I can eat corn-on-the-cob without any hesitation.”
Millie’s dentist removed her failing teeth and gave her a new set of upper teeth supported by six dental implants. When she saw her new smile, it was like turning back time. “I feel like I’m 20 years younger,” she said. “I was beginning to feel like, ‘Oh no, I’m getting old.’ Now I feel like, ‘Wow, I’m young again!’”
Millie said she even forgets she has dental implants. “They just feel like normal teeth, you know, my normal teeth. I like that.” Her friends and family like it, too. “They all said, ‘Oh, Millie’s got her smile back!’ I was hiding my mouth. Now, I smile and it lights up the room.”
