Dr. Robert Buch

Dr. Robert Buch practices oral and maxillofacial surgery in Glendale, AZ. He, his wife Angela, and their dog Adelaide relocated to Arizona in 2010 to enjoy the year-round sunshine of the beautiful greater Phoenix area. They enjoy hiking, biking, and the many fitness activities possible in the valley.

Dr. Buch received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (D.D.S.) from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry in 1992. After graduation, he served three years as a general dentist in the U.S. Navy. ln 1999, he completed a four-year oral and maxillofacial surgical residency program at the University of Cincinnati Hospital. His passions for medicine led him to complete his medical degree (M.D.) and additional training in the medical anesthesiology program at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 2001. In pursuit of clinical excellence, Dr. Buch and his wife moved to Australia, where he received additional surgical training while working as a clinical fellow in the Maxillofacial Surgical Unit at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Dr. Buch has also served as an oral surgeon in the U.S. Army reserves, attaining the rank of Major.

Dr. Buch is passionate about dental implants and has been awarded the status of fellow at the Misch International Implant Institute. He has achieved diplomat status (the highest honor) in the lnternational Congress of Oral lmplantologists (lCOl), which gives Dr. Buch the distinct honor of being the only oral and maxillofacial surgeon in the state of Arizona. His commitment to continuing education and clinical excellence allows Dr. Buch to provide his patients with the highest quality of care.

Dr. Michael Mansfield

Dr. Mansfield received his Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree from the University of Oregon, in Portland, in 1973. He completed a General Practice Residency at Chanute AFB, Illinois, from 1973 to 1974 and then completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Wilford Hall Medical Center from 1977 to 1980. Upon completion of training, Dr. Mansfield became board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Mansfield was the chairperson of a general practice residency at Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson, AZ, from 1980 to 1984. He was then transferred to Wilford Hall Medical Center (the largest Air Force Training Facility) in San Antonio, TX. He was Director of Residency Training from 1984 until 1989 until he became chairman of the oral maxillofacial residency program from 1989 until 1991. During this time, he was the special consultant to The Surgeon General of the United States for the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Dr. Mansfield moved to the Phoenix area to begin a private practice in 1991. He is also a fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and has been recognized as a top dentist by the Phoenix Magazine for oral and maxillofacial surgery for a total of eight years. He is also past president of the West Side Study Club and has lectured extensively throughout the United States.

Dr. Matthew Hanchett

Dr. Matthew Hanchett specializes in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He was born and raised in Dothan, Alabama, and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology from Auburn University in 2002. In 2009, he received his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry. He completed a general practice residency in hospital dentistry at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2010, followed by an oral and maxillofacial surgery internship at West Virginia University Hospitals in 2011. Dr. Hanchett completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency through Banner University Medical Center, Phoenix, in 2015. Subsequently, Dr. Hanchett was selected for a highly prestigious pediatric cleft and craniomaxillofacial fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Children’s Hospital. This fellowship is one of only two accredited fellowships of its kind in North America. Special emphasis was placed on the management of cleft and craniomaxillofacial patients through primary and secondary repair of their facial defects. These surgeries included, but were not limited to, neonatal distraction osteogenesis, cleft lip and palate repair, speech surgery, nasoalveolar cleft grafting, craniomaxillofacial orthognathics, cleft rhinoplasty, complex reconstruction and revision surgery and pediatric pathology.

Dr. Hanchett is a Diplomate (board certified) of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), American College of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (ACOMS), American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association (ACPA) and American Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons (AACMFS). He has been asked to lecture locally and throughout the country on a myriad of topics. Dr. Hanchett has trained in multiple locations across the country, providing a unique and diverse perspective to patient care. He delivers the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery to include, but not limited to, intravenous and general anesthesia, complex exodontia, implant planning and placement, bone grafting, orthographic surgery, facial trauma, reconstruction and pathology.

Dr. Hanchett provides his patients with the highest quality of care and uses the most advanced technologies the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery has to offer. When not in the office, he and his family can be found exploring the Arizona outdoors. Dr. Hanchett is grateful for the opportunity to join Southwest Oral Surgery.

Dr. Eric Saiz

Dr. Eric Saiz is a specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery in Glendale, Arizona. He was born in Apple Valley, California, and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dr. Saiz attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, for both his undergraduate and dental education. Dr. Saiz received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences in 2009 and his Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2013. He then continued his education in Chicago, Illinois, completing a one-year internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Cook County Hospital. Upon completion of his internship, Dr. Saiz traveled to Detroit, Michigan, where he completed a four-year oral and maxillofacial surgical residency at the Detroit Medical Center.

He has received surgical training in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery including dentoalveolar and implant surgery, complex facial trauma, oral and maxillofacial pathology, reconstructive surgery and orthognathic surgery. Dr. Saiz has also completed rotations in adult and pediatric anesthesia. Dr. Saiz has a surgical interest in dentoalveolar surgery and the removal of wisdom teeth, dental implant reconstruction, bone grafting procedures, facial trauma, corrective jaw surgery and oral pathology. He is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). Dr. Saiz is fluent in both English and Spanish. Dr. Saiz is a member of several professional organizations including the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the Arizona Dental Association and the Hispanic Dental Association. He regularly attends seminars, national meetings and conferences for continuing education in his specialty.

Dr. Saiz is committed to patient care and strives to provide patients with the same care and respect that he would provide for his own family. Outside of oral surgery, Dr. Saiz enjoys traveling, music, fitness and exercise and spending time with his family and new cockapoo puppy, Henry. He is an avid sports fan and is eager to attend the many sporting events in Arizona. Dr. Saiz is honored by the opportunity to join the Southwest Oral Surgery team.
