Dr. Jay Crossland, a native Texan, joined Black Hills Oral Surgery in 2006. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts. He then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry, a member of the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center. Dr. Crossland completed his specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, a level-one regional trauma center serving Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
Dr. Crossland is board certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology and a fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He also serves as an office anesthesia evaluator for the South Dakota State Board of Dental Examiners.
Dr. Crossland is a member of the American Dental Association, member and past president of the Black Hills District Dental Society, current Speaker of the House of Delegates for the South Dakota Dental Association and president of the South Dakota Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also an active member of the medical staff at Rapid City Regional Hospital, Same Day Surgery Center and Black Hills Surgical Hospital.
Dr. Crossland is actively engaged in supporting local non-profit organizations as a way of showing gratitude and giving back to our wonderful community. He is married and raising his young family in Rapid City.
Dr. Scott Van Dam joined Black Hills Oral Surgery in 2007. He completed his dental training at Creighton University and received his medical and surgical training at the Mayo Clinic. He is board certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a member of the American Dental Association, the South Dakota Dental Association, the American Medical Association, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and member and past president of the Black Hills District Dental Society.
Dr. Van Dam is currently serving on the Ethics Committee and as a Trustee of the South Dakota Dental Association. He is also a member of the Professional Practice Committee at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Dr. Van Dam is an active member of the medical staff at Rapid City Regional Hospital and Same Day Surgery Center.
Dr. Van Dam grew up in Germany and Holland and speaks fluent German and Dutch. He and his wife are blessed with three children. He is actively involved in the Rapid City community through church service as well as the Rushmore Rotary Club.
Dr. Ike Morgan joined Black Hills Oral Surgery in 2012 after completing his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. Dr. Morgan completed his undergraduate education in Salt Lake City, Utah, receiving his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Westminster College. He then trained in dentistry at the University of Kentucky, College of Dentistry, in Lexington.
Dr. Morgan is board certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology and a fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the Black Hills District Dental Society, the Chalmers J. Lyons Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Honor Society and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He is a member of the medical staff at Rapid City Regional Hospital and Same Day Surgery Center.
Dr. Morgan and his wife have four children. He is active in his church and the community. He enjoys getting out into the Black Hills as well as various sports, especially coaching his children’s little league.
Dr. Brain Richman joined Black Hills Oral Surgery in 2015. He completed his undergraduate degree at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho, where he received a tennis scholarship and graduated with honors. He was trained in dentistry at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, and then went on to complete his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He is board certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Richman is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the South Dakota Dental Association, the Black Hills District Dental Society, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and the American Cleft Lip and Palate Association. He is an active member of the medical staff at Rapid City Regional Hospital and Same Day Surgery Center.
Dr. Richman completed a Cleft and Craniofacial Fellowship at the University of Tennessee/East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville. He is the only cleft and craniofacial fellowship trained surgeon in the region and is currently establishing a regional cleft team to provide care for children affected by cleft lip and palates.
Dr. Richman served a two-year religious/humanitarian mission to Taiwan and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. He and his wife have three young children. They are excited to raise their family in Rapid City and look forward to being involved in the community. They enjoy golfing, tennis, boating and spending time with family.
