Dr. John Sisto

Dr. John M. Sisto received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Loyola University and graduated with honors. During his senior year, he was awarded a fellowship in head and neck cancer at the University of Illinois and Cook County Hospital by the American Cancer Society. He completed a residency and received his certification in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the world-renowned Cook County Hospital in Chicago.

Dr. Sisto spent the majority of his career in academics, training and teaching residents. He was the former Director of Residency Education at Cook County Hospital. He started the residency program in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Cook County in 1990. He held teaching positions at the Northwestern and University of Illinois Dental schools as a clinical assistant professor, as well as at Northwestern Medical School. He was the Division Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Cook County Hospital and Chairman of Dentistry at Resurrection Medical Center.

He has published papers on dental implant surgery, trauma surgery, orthognathic surgery and maxillofacial infections. He has lectured both locally and nationally at various educational forms including the AAOMS national meeting.

He is a fellow of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a member of the Illinois Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Chicago Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Association, Academy of Osseointegration and American Dental Society of Anesthesia.

In 2016, Dr. Sisto was honored by being inducted into the American College of Dentists. His current interest includes dental implants, bone grafting and reconstruction for dental implants and reconstructive jaw surgery (orthognathic). Dr. Sisto is well known for performing surgery for difficult cases that require bone reconstruction prior to dental implant placement. He also has a very avid interest in oral and maxillofacial pathology.
